Now what?

Ok i've got everything from water pressure to cable. It feels strange to know i only had to suffer a night without air conditioning while New Orleans is getting deeper and deeper.
Robyn won't be home tomorrow, her flight into New Orleans got cancelled she'll be ok with another day in New York City though.
This is really scary how much can happen in 72 hours.
My lake house is still alive and we think we still have a pier. It's not fair that i got so lucky, every street in my neighbourhood has a house with a tree through it and yet we only have a few limbs in the yard. I'm confused

Calm before ze storm

This could be my last post for a long time. It seems as if the biggest storm to ever strike the united states on record is about to make landfall on this little town known as new orleans. As it's destroying the big easy it will also do a little damage to my lake house, which i am never planning on seeing again. Yesterday we rented a 24 foot moving truck and packed all of our furniture from the lake house and brought it to baton rouge. I really hope this beast misses us and takes out gulf shores or something. If it does hit us however i hope it hits hard. I mean like no power for a few weeks so we can tell our kids we lived through hurricane Katrina.

Ignorance

At the court

ignorant people make me mad. This morning i was watching good morning america and they were reporting on a plane wreck in Peru and how the locals were looting the wreckage and taking everything of value, as they were showing the footage of a very nicaraguen like shanty town with a plane near by with kids, and their parents going through the wreckage. The anchor lady says "sometimes I can't believe the things people do, they are stealing things that could lead to an explanation why this crash happened. These parents are teaching their kids that stealing is alright. The things people do sicken me" Meanwhile this half plastic woman who's getting paid for the looks she paid for herself is making enough money a day to feed these children. I don't see the wrong these people were doing. If given the choice of feeding my kids for a month or leaving this crashed plane and all of it's belongings to be turned into scrap metal i think most people would have made the same decision. And if she would take the time of day to consider what the things taken off of the plane that crashed into their home could be used for she could have a little understanding.

I recently had fun with my newest addition to the collection of dead animals from nicaragua. I attached my dogs leash and collar to the stuffed racoon you see above and walked around the neighborhood with robyn dragging a dead animal behind me. soon people started to stare and one man stopped and said "i thought that thing was a dog" Robyn then said "no it's his pet 'coon" he then turned to me and said "what're you doing to that poor animal" I then lifted the poor animal to his window. He then said "oh my god" and drove away.

Back to school

I have completed my fourth day of school and have not gotten sick of it yet. This should be a good year, i'll get my car if my grades aren't bad so i'll have a motivation to try hard.
I should start blogging a lot more now that school has started simply because it'll give me something to do that looks like homework to people observing me from afar and it gives me something else to do while i'm supposed to be doing homework.
Uhigh is starting to suck. They have gotten anal about things. Two years ago we could wear flip flops and a t-shirt and next year we're moving to uniforms. I bought a uniform from Dunham, Episcopal, and parkview to wear to school but my mother got very upset and said the teachers would hate me so i'm going to wait until the next semester when the teachers already hate me.
It's really cold at school, for some reason they keep the AC on 60 and freeze everyone's pooper's off. They can spend the money to preserve meat in our learning environment but they can't afford for us to keep our salad bar. They lie to us a lot too. Last year we had to wear id tags because we would be off campus but then they learned it would save on insurance so now we get to wear them even though we will stay on uhigh's amazing facilities.

Then people will go onto yours and leave a comment that says "hey, love you. I'm soooo bored lol." then they have an inside joke "ok i gtg ttyl much love" and thats it. I don't understand these things. but i have decided to make this blog my myspace so there's my survey and everyone can leave stupid comments to me.

Tres mas dias

School Starts in Three days, i still have three books to finish and i'm still getting over my culture shock from Nicaragua.
On our last day we went to a Diriagen soccer game. It was much like an LSU football game but on a much small scale. The only thing missing was the obvious presence of alcohol. With about 20 min left it was obvious that the home team was not going to win however the spirit of the crowd was growing more and more. We noticed a fireman with a firehose at the top of the bleachers. A yankee that was in the peace corp informed us that we should move if we didn't wanna get too wet. After we removed all of our electronics from the spray area we rejoined the mass of excited nicas. We got soaked and had a blast
